Fabric Fun and The giveaway!

(Another scheduled post all. So sorry, but this means we are still in the hospital from the hubby's surgery on Friday. )

Who doesn't love great fabric? I love when I see a pattern on fabric that would make an awesome embellishment. I often cut out the part I want to use, adhere to felt and then usinf floss and a button, when needed, add a finishing touch! If you glue a bit of cardstock onto the back try attaching to a project with dimensionals or pop dots to make it 3d. Very easy, cost effective and a super great use for fabric scraps! (FYI- Fabric on the top and right are Amy Butler and the one on the bottom left is Michael Miller. Don't forget to enter the giveaway from Saturday's post! Happy Monday! & MERMAIDS

Wish I could say I was coming to you love from home, but most of you know I am at the hospital since hubby had surgery Friday. (This post is scheduled and I writing it on Thursday. Seems weird, lol!) On with the post!

MERMAIDS! and lots of them! I had a customrequest from a super nice lady in New York a few weeks ago for 20 mermaids. She was makign her daughters party invites and need some fishy brunette cuties to finish them. My only complaint with some of the cricut carts are that you have to sometimes waste a lot of paper when making some of the layers. For example: Cut body out of the peachy, fine, BUT THEN all in one cut you get the tail, hair, top, and flower. Well I need 20 green tails, but not 20 green hairs, tops, and flowers! So, I have found a way to sometimes use those green or other color cuts! For several of the bikini tops in the picture, I used the green ones and colored over them with Stampin' Writes from SU and then embellished them with Stickles! Hides the green pretty well. Another great way to hide the colors- Smooch. The pearlized Paint that looks like nail polish! I love this stuff! Have a great day everyone!!!

Good Sunday morning! This is still a scheduled post since I am at the hospital with Hubby. Sorry If I haven't had a chance to update anyone. That means no internet at the hospital :( Anyways- Jsut wanted to share a post that makes me happy. I love Kenny Chesney's music. Yes there are some not so serious songs, but most of his music I can apply to something in my life. (The reason country music is so popular with so many.) The song "Back Where I Come From.." LOVE IT! My siter and I always sing it at the topof our lungs at every KC concert, and we have been to a few. Here are the lyrics in case you don't know :

When I hit I-65 South heading an hour and a half HOME to Cave City (my parents, but I still call it home.) I just get this warm fuzzy feeling. I miss the country. The laid back, easy going, "ain't-gettin'-in-a-hurry-over-nuthin'", mentality. Life is short and fun. People are good. Work is hard. Rewards are amzing. I love where I come from. Where are you from: We live in a little town east of San Diego, California, called Ramona! Ramona used to be the turkey capital of the world-- I still see wild turkeys walking around town!

What do You specialize in: I sell homemade, natural playing dough for children and adults of all ages (3 and up).

Where did the name come from: I was wracking my brain trying to come up with a name that was catchy, but fun and easily memorable-- my lovely husband laying on the couch said-- what about "TicTacDough?" His one and only suggestion became our name!

How did you get started on etsy?: Well I actually started on etsy about a year ago buying great handmade items from amazing sellers! I then opened a vintage shop called The Lost and Found (http://www.thelostfound.etsy.com) last January, then just recently decided to take my other love, making homemade, natural playing dough for my kids, and open a shop! It seemed like a natural progression for me. I stay with my girls during the day and get to do what I love in my spare time-- homemade and vintage!

Any advice for new etsy sellers that you have learned?: I think keeping a positive attitude throughout your journey helps tremendously! Whether it be simply having an up-beat welcome announcement in your shop or keeping a positive vibe in the forums-- I find you attract more bees with honey! =)

What do you want customers to know about you and/or your product: That playing dough is so much fun-- yet it can also be educational! Shhh-- the kiddos don't have to know! Before I decided to take the plunge and stay home with my daughters, I taught 1st grade. I was amazed at the varying skill levels... some children didn't know how to cut using a pair of scissors-- using playing dough daily in the classroom, helped amazingly! Learning to use scissors can be a challenge for many kids because it's difficult for them to hold and cut floppy paper. Roll out TicTacDough into half-inch thick sheets, and watch your child become a super snipper! TicTacDough is a good learning material because its rigidity provides resistance so your child can feel what he's doing with the scissors.Playing with TicTacDough promotes creativity, encourages generosity and it builds fine-motor skills in young ones-- plus so much more! Shameless addictions (retail therapy, etc): I love perusing the many gorgeous kid items on Etsy! It is amazing what some people can do with their hands! I am so jealous of people that can sew! I'm on a roll!

I think this is my 3rd post within the hour! Can't sleep! Just wanted to share with you the banner I made for Matthew's party! I am offering these in my shop now and have MANY more designs I need to take pics of and upload! (I made a John Deere themed one for a retailer on Sunday afternoon and cupcake toppers to match! I promise I will be back later in the day with a "great" lol post, but for right now, I am EXHAUSTED! With my husband having surgery this coming Friday, same day as our little guy's 3rd birthday, we had his party in my hometown this weekend. (Dustin doesn't have a big family at all, I DO! so it is easier to have it there!) He was spolied beyond spoiled and even ended the party after the gifts by climbing on the table at the restaurant and saying "Thank You everyone for everything. My presents too!" and then repatedly blwong kisses to everyone and throwing his arms up. A true showman! (My grandpa call him "SHOWBOAT" :)
ANyways- he stayed with mom and dad tonight and Dust and I drove back (about 1.5 hours) and I am READY for bed! So, later a better post, pictures, and the July Blog Candy Winner!!!! Happy August all! Love ya!

Computer Pic Clean Up!

I have all these random pics on my computer tha I am trying to to get posted adn filed away! So, I think i will go ahead and share some of them! The 25th birthday layout was for my sister in May. She is new to scrapping and I wanted to give her a little something else with her gift. I also made her the cupcake toppers to match. It is simple and easy for her to add 2 pics and be done! I love the Cuttin Up Font Cart from ProvoCraft for my Cricut Exp. Funky and Fun!

For Father's Day my Father-In_Law insisted we get him nothing. Well you know I couldn't let that happen! I saved a blueberry container from the grocery and reused it to make this cute packaging with nothing other that some paper, ribbon, stamps, and adhesive! Inside I added some fresh baked brownie squares, individually wrapped. He loved it!

I love requests. My husband's aunt requested some simple thank you cards to send to those who had brought food and such over for her mother who is in poor health with stage 4 lung cancer. (My husband's grandmother.) I made these using Papertrey Ink's cardstock and Perfect Match ribbon. The weight is nice and heavy. I felt like they were still warm and classy with the feminine touch. Considering what they were being sent for, I think the green really made the mood.

Update-Crafty Share-Question!

I apologize for the late post, but my hubby and I have spent the bulk of the day at the surgeon's office and at the hospital where his next surgery will be done. Pre op day! lol. (Doesn't it have a nice ring to it, lol!) We are good to go and ready for surgery on the 7th---the part that sucksm the 7th is our son's 3rd birthday :( Subsequently, we are having his party in my hometown this aturday. I know he doesn't know the difference, but I do! BOO! We will make te best of it and I am just excited my hubby will get some much needed relief for now!

On to the crafty chit chat~ I just loved this stamoo when I saw it. Then I saw the stamp with this caption. LOVE it! I do preffer to be called a domestic goddess! So, the question for today- of all your Duties as Goddess, which do you hate the most???? ME- DISHES AND MOPPING MY HARDWOOD! I lvoe my hardwood, the entiremain floor is hardwood, but I have a large sunroom with a lot of windows that opens to the rest of the room (think very open floor plan) and if there is something on my floor, you can see it the second you walk into my house!!!!! UGH! So, let's hear it!!! Love ya'll!
