Flip Flop Fun

First and most importantly- HAPPY MEMORIAL DAY WEEKEND. This is much more than a long weekend. Thank you to all the men and women in the US Armed Forces who have protected my freedoms as a citizen. For those who have lost their lives, to protect us and our future. And thank you to their families who have supported them along the way. I am so proud to have a large number who have served in my family in all the branches.
Now for some crafty fun :)

Gotta love flip flops! And a flip flop birthday party sounds so much fun!  This was a custom order and it just put me in a summery mood :)
Be safe everyone!!!

Nautical Boy Banner

Girly banners are easy. Pink, tulle, purple, glitter, etc....
But BOY banners....
I do enjoy making them. Maybe because I have a little boy and I see how much he loves his banner with his name. He loves to spell his name and point to the letters on the banner as he does it! Here is a custom order for a baby shower. Kim sent me the invite, a nautical theme, and I was able to match it perfectly :)
So, what are your favorite boy color combos????
Have a fab day!!

A few questions :)

It's really a small world, ya know.  I know Meghann through my cousin Melissa. M&M are the bestest of buddies and I probably know more about Meghan than she knows I know! All good of course. Well, how delightfully elated I was to find out Meghann was a crazy fab scrapbooker! Really! She is the Guest Designer this month at Sketchy Thursdays! Although she calls New Orleans home now, she bleeds blue from the good ole KY :) So basically, we are BFF's because of this :)
She tagged me in this cute question game. I know I don't usually post this stuff, but it was fun....and it's my blog and I wanted to!!! LOL.

1. If you could own any car, regardless of cost, what would it be? I am pretty fond of my hummer, but don't think I would turn down a brand new masarati :) Just b/c I don't know of anyone with one :)

2. If you could spend an hour with any person in the world, living or dead, who would you spend it with? My brother. I miss him and can't believe it's been 4 years since his death. I would spend the time tellin ghim how much I loved him and catching him up on my little guy who he never met. love you Matt and miss you so much!

3. What color is your living room? like 4 different ralph lauren browns!! lots of green mixed around and black frames and shelves :)

4. What vacations/trips do you have planned for the summer?  heading to Dallas in July with my mom, tot, and sister for a few days and to CHA in Chicago with Amanda!!! Then my family cruises in January :) It's great to come home in winter with a tan and pretty toes :)

5. What is your favorite flower? gerbera daisies :) They make me smile :)

6. Chocolate or vanilla? white chocolate mocha :)

7. What person do you think knows you best in the world? Ashleigh. My BFF from college.  and Heather my first 'real' friend in Losuiville :)

8. Do you have a laid-back or keyed-up personality? are we talking about me???? LOL!!!

9. What goal do you want to accomplish this year? running a 1/2 marathon in Virginia Beach in Septemeber! getting excited!

10. What is the best photo you've ever taken? If you can, share it! Here is one of my favs :) He just looks so happy from the inside out! Love this little guy!!
Your turn! I am supposed to pick people and such, but I want to pick all of you! So if you want to play along, here are your 7 questions! Be sure and leave me a comment saying you are playing so I can come see!!! xoxo-sj

1. What did you want to be when you were little?
2. If you could travel at will....where would be the first place you would go?
3. What is your favorite charity or non profit organization?
4. Where is your favorite place online to buy crafty supplies?
5. Have a pet peave? Share!

HIATUS.......sort of :)

After placing orders this week from American Crafts (wholesale, got some more albums while they were having a sale and more adhesive refills along with some other goodies!), A Cherry On Top, Two Peas in a Bucket, Oh My Crafts, DCRU, Scrapbook.com, and as of last night the May Papertrey Ink release.....I am on a buying hiatus. (I did hit up the LSS yesterday and visited archivers last week too....) .......
Until Next weekend when I go to a Saturday crop in my hometown to celebrate my sisters bday.  (On site Stucio Calico, LYB, Imaginisce, Purple Cow, CoreDinatiosn, etc...ouch....) LOL. To my defense though, I did buy a lot of it for my sister's birthday gifts and several were for orders for the store! She get s a big reusable bag from Archiver's (Which I got "free" with a $20 purchase) filled with new papers, adhesive refills, a big marvy punch, stickers, paper packs, etc. She is going to love it! Not to mention a FAB pair of monogrammed flip flops :) (More on these later :)
Seriously though. There isn't a ton coming out righ tnow since CHA is right around the corner, so I am going to QUIT spending and save for my CHA trip.... which is sure to be dangerous!
SO, I AM PLEADGING TO BE GOOD AND NOT TO BU YANYTHING NEXT WEEK.....until Saturday. :) Progress over perfection folks!

Off to work on orders. I asked one of Matthew's favorite babysitters to come play with him for a bit this morning so I could get some work done. That way I can get caught up on house work and orders and then have the afternoon to play! Taking him the the BBC's spectacular "Walking With Dinosaurs" tomorrow afternoon!!!! He is excited!!!
HAVE A FAB SATURDAY!!!!

Banner and they just see mom!

Hi all! Another high chair banner today :)  I enjoyed mani/pedi's yesterday while Matthew was in preschool. My mother's Day treat to her! Her gift to me: A big ole box of new tulle I had wanted :) All the colors from my wish list! You guys know I love tulle!!!!  After, Dust had some doctors appointments and after 4 additional prescraiptions, we were home. Mom helped me fill orders for a bit (GOD BLESS HER) lol.  AND I saw a post a few minutes ago that really touched me! Julie posted a layout talking abou thow her kiddos "Just See Mom". I LOVE it. I cannot wait to do one like that!!! Scrap Lift City Julie :) Isn't it true though?! Matthew can look at me in mix matched pj's, no make up, hair up in some kind of messy contraption, no tan, and he STILL loves me and has no idea mom isn't "fit" to go out of the house or have contact with another human without a shower first. :) He wouldn't care if we hit the zoo or mall like that!!! LOL. You have to love the way your children look at you....They Just see mom. Their mom. and they love their mom...

Update and Prayers for Nashville!

Hey everyone. Long day and no crafting yesterday or today really. had to take Matthew to the ER yesterday afternoon. Something wasn't right when he woke up, (You know that "MOM" feeling you get when you look at your little one and know something is up, proof of it visible or not????) so I had that "MOM" feeling. Sure enough 3 hours later a fever came on. After I got it down, he played, all was well, no other symptoms of anything else, etc. Then about 5 fever came back, meds didn't help and when it hit 106.1 from 102 in about 10 minutes of time- out the door I went, limp baby in my arms.
I am not a "freak out" mom. I really think one of the biggest lessons I learned from losing my little brother was to always put things in perspective. I don't freak. I deal with the situation at hand rationally. It is what it is. Deal with it. Know that this happened for a reason and handle it. :)
Several hours in the ER later, just a virus. We got the fever under control and when he asked to watch the Weather Channel, I knew he was better :)
(Yes, he LOVES the weather channel! He watches it with my dad and is fascinated with storms and tornado talk:) Long night, but MUCH better by this afternoon. Hoping the fever is all, and nothing else comes of it :)
Matthew NEVER gets sick (knock on wood). Seriously. His FIRST sickness of any kind was at 8 months old. a Virus.  He is 3 1/2 and after yesterday, his sicknesses total 3.  2 Viral, 1 ear infection. Other than allergies or a slight cold, NADA.
Lucky, I know. I really contribute this to a few things.
Number 1- I nursed for 11 1/2 months and wouldn't have changed that for the world. It was the right decision for ME and our family. It was weird b/c my mom couldn't and my MIL didn't, so it was a *new* experience for many in the family :) But they, and especially my husband, are TRUE believers in the benefits now :)
2- He has never been in daycare (I am so THANKFUL to have the opportunity to be home with him now. For the first 18 months, I worked publicly and was SO fortunate to have the opportunity to bring him to work with me and keep him in the office with me all day! Exersaucer, swing, and all! There was only one other person in there all day and SHE is FAB and loved/loves him like he is her own!!!). He did attend Mom's Day Out at my church last year 1-2 mornings a week and is in Preschool at our church this year 3 mornings a week.
Number 3- Nutrition. I am that nutty mom who watches what he eats (I buy organic snacks, cereals, milk, peanut butter, etc), knows what is in the things he does eat, and all the diligence in teaching him healthy eating habits.  It makes me so proud after dinner when he gets to pick his dessert from a  big bin and he choose one small Hershey's, or a fruit roll up, and never asks for more or complains. Don't get me wrong, he still gets plenty of sugar, snacks, and southern cooked food when he spends time with my family, LOL, and we still go to McDonalds for chicken nuggets, but in MODERATION. I feel that if I can teach him that even the not so healthy foods in life are there and we can have them in moderation, then I have done a good job in that area :)
Number 4- Lots of prayers :) I pray prayers of protection for my little monkey every night. I know how lucky I am that God picked me to be his mother.

SO,  for those of you who have "listened" to me ramble on, thank you :) I consider many of you close friends, those I know personally and those I talk to constantly in the bloggy world :) Oh and ONE last thing...
My prayers are with all those who have been affected by the floods. I lived and worked in Nashville for almost 2 years before getting married and moving to Louisville. The pics/videos/ stories of what is going on in those parts, filled with so many of my dear friends, former co workers, and their families, are so very scary and sad. PLEASE know that I am PRAYING for each of you!!! Much love!
Blessings on this wonderful day! Love you!
